The Allure of Infinity Scarves

Infinity scarves, also known as eternity scarves, have gained immense popularity in recent years. Their seamless loop design offers both style and functionality – you can wrap them around your neck once or multiple times, depending on the desired look and level of warmth. This makes them incredibly versatile, suitable for any outfit or occasion.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Cast on 30 stitches using your first color.
  2. Knit in garter stitch (knit each row) for 10 rows.
  3. Switch to your second color and knit in stockinette stitch (knit one row, purl one row) for 20 rows.
  4. Switch to your third color and knit in garter stitch for 10 rows.
  5. Repeat steps 2-4 until the desired length is achieved.
  6. Cast off and weave in any loose ends using the tapestry needle.

This knitting pattern is basically very easy; the only slight challenge is producing the vertical stripes to create the plaid/tartan design, but I have included step-by-step instructions of how to do it. The basic knitted scarf is quick to make; adding the vertical stripes is the most time-consuming part, but well worth the effort when you see the end result.

The yarn used is light worsted (double knitting/8 ply) and you only need one 4 oz skein (100g ball) in the main color, and oddments in three contrast colors (no more than 1 oz (25g) of each additional color required).

The finished scarf measures approximately 8" (20 cm) wide, and is approximately 30" (76 cm) in circumference.

Changing the color combination adds a completely different look each time, and whether you opt for funky and fashionable, or elegant and traditional, the infinity scarf adds the finishing touch to any outfit.
