Colonial America was an integral part of the history of the United States. It was a time of exploration, conflict, and uncharted territories. While men often take the spotlight in this historical period, there were also remarkable women who defied social norms and left their mark on the pages of history. 1. Anne Bonny - The Fearless Pirate Queen
Anne Bonny was born in Ireland and later moved to the American colonies. She was known for her involvement in piracy during the early 18th century. 2. Phyllis Wheatley - The First Published African-American Female Poet

Sarah Osborn played a significant role in the Great Awakening spiritual revival movement of the 18th century. Despite having no formal education, Sarah became an independent minister, holding religious meetings and preaching to her followers. This was a bold and audacious move for a woman at the time. Sarah's dedication to her faith and her tireless efforts in spreading the gospel earned her respect and admiration.
5. Mercy Otis Warren - The Political Writer
Mercy Otis Warren is often referred to as the "Conscience of the American Revolution." She was a prolific political writer and playwright, actively participating in the political discourse of her time. Mercy wrote numerous essays and plays that criticized British rule and advocated for American independence. Her boldness in expressing her political opinions and promoting patriotism was exceptional.
