This issue of The Motorcycle Files is a significant example of history on wheels. It comprises a track test in Australia by Alan Cathcart, at central Victoria’s Broadford circuit, of Jack Findlay’s 1975 Formula 750 FIM Prize-winning Yamaha TZ750B. This time-warp motorcycle is today essentially exactly as Findlay last raced it, having remained intact and unraced in major events since his last season on it in 1976.
As well as the test, Alan provides an outline history of one of road racing’s most iconic motorcycles. It is a superb example of a model that surely offered the most performance for the least money of any that were ever available for customer purchase. There is also a detailed and race-by-race history of this particular bike during Findlay’s championship-winning F750 season.
