These photographs were taken from the collection belonging to Kerry Allyne during her travels throughout Queensland and though out-dated by time are a record of the way things were in those days.

Kerry travelled many thousands of miles on the back-roads of Australia indicating a love of adventure and Australia (despite the fact she was born in London) and she never failed to search out the way people lived and struggled in terrible conditions in the outback.

She travelled as far as Broome, Darwin, Thursday Island, Tasmania, Ayre’s Rock (Uluru) and every state and territory of her adopted country taking photographs and learning the Australian way.

This publication is a simple one but its real purpose is to memorialise the way these hotels were and indeed the photographer, Kerry Allyne.
