Joy's Journey
For Joy, the decision to embark on a solo trip to Thailand was born out of a desire for self-discovery. She yearned for adventure, to explore a culture entirely different from her own. Little did she know that the universe had an extraordinary plan in store for her.
From the moment she set foot on Thai soil, Joy felt a deep sense of belonging. The warmth of the people, their infectious smiles, and their genuine hospitality made her feel right at home. She immersed herself in the local customs and traditions, trying her hand at Thai cooking classes and learning traditional dances.
A Meeting of Souls
One sunny afternoon, as Joy strolled through the vibrant Chatuchak Weekend Market, she stumbled upon an art gallery showcasing extraordinary photographs. Drawn to the mesmerizing imagery, she entered the gallery without hesitation.
As she admired the captivating photographs displayed on the walls, a voice broke through her reverie. "Do you like what you see?" a gentle voice asked. Startled, Joy turned to face the speaker, and her eyes met those of David Cannon, the renowned travel photographer.
A Bond Through Photography
David saw the spark of curiosity and admiration in Joy's eyes as she gazed at his masterpieces. He began sharing stories of his travels, his encounters, and the moments captured through his lens. Joy was captivated by his passion and expertise.
An instant connection formed between them, as if they were kindred spirits brought together by their love for photography and exploration. David could see the fire ignited within Joy, yearning to tell her own story through the lens of a camera.
A Journey Through the Lens
Over the next few weeks, David took Joy under his wing, guiding her through the intricacies of photography. They embarked on countless photography expeditions together, capturing the raw essence of Thailand's landscapes, bustling cityscapes, and serene temples. Joy soaked up every bit of knowledge David shared, honing her skills and cultivating her unique artistic vision.
As the days turned into weeks and weeks into months, Joy and David formed an unbreakable bond. Together, they explored hidden gems, ventured off the beaten path, and discovered the true beauty of Thailand that lay beyond the surface.
A Lasting Legacy
After a transformative year in Thailand, Joy returned home with an abundance of memories and a newfound purpose. Armed with her camera and the lessons she learned from David, she set out to share her experiences with the world, just as he had done.
Joy's photographs graced the pages of travel magazines and adorned galleries, transporting people to the enchanting landscapes and vibrant culture of Thailand. With each click of her camera, she aimed to capture the essence of the country that had captured her heart.

This is travelling Essay. Never has there been a country more fascinating and beguiling as Thailand. Are you familiar with its diverse people, varied landscapes, and rich history? I have already been to Thailand’s international airport more than four times. I visited the country for the first time as a student backpacker and had some stopovers there en route to other countries.
The 1956 film The King and I is based on the true story of a governess that taught the King’s children in the late nineteenth century. This film became so popular that people started to put Thailand down on their list of places they wanted to visit.
Called “the country of smiles”, it has transformed into a great tourist destination. The country abounds in historic sites and charming resorts. It is a convenient place to visit with plenty of reasonably-priced accommodations and restaurants. The locals say, “Everything in Thailand is for the King and of the King.” The monarchy and Buddhism are the pillars of the land.
One thing I noticed when making inquiries about bus transportation at the airport, was that the office clerk I talked to was frowning and looked exhausted. It was no surprise that the airport staff were tired of having to deal with crowds of foreign tourists coming and going.
Most tourists must pay a fee to stay one month. At the time of my visit, a lot of people from all around the world including South Koreans like me were allowed stay in Thailand for 60 days free of charge.
Thailand is a major tourist destination, and it is a country that foreigners first think of as one of their favorite countries to visit among the Asian countries.
