Greg Sullivan's improv techniques and insights will help actors achieve better improvisation results and enable non-actors to develop their listening, creativity and teamwork skills. The exercises and forms in this book are ones which he has taught to great effect for 20 years. While there is no substitute for a live class, this book is the next best thing - and its content is what is usually covered in 3 two-hour classes. In Lessons #5, you get a summary of the GS IMPROV Technique and will then learn nine great, fun improvs, including: YOU DO, I DO: where students are reminded of the importance of movement in a scene by being chair bound; MYSTERY DATE: a hilarious piece in which an eligible gal tries to find her soul mate; THREE THINGS: where one actor tries to lead another actor into achieving a series of audience-provided goals.
Greg has been teaching since 1997 at his GS IMPROV classes in NYC, was a substitute at HB Studio (13 years), founded the improv troupe KLAATU and has been featured in three BACK STAGE cover stories. He is the Book Review Editor and Podcast Host of Flight Journal magazine's "Flying Off the Shelves."
He has also performed numerous stage roles, including the male leads in Arsenic & Old Lace, The Mousetrap, Rehearsal for Murder, Romantic Comedy and Strange Bedfellows. Greg studied with many wonderful teachers, including Michael Beckett, Ginny Borton, Sam Groom, Anne Jackson, Rasa Allan Kazlas, Salem Ludwig, John Monteith, and Austin Pendleton.
