VOLUMEN 3, 4 and 5
This book is the result of a motorcycle photo diary through Colombia, and this is the second installment (covering volumes 3, 4 and 5) out of 3.
This eBook is an enhanced edition with audio recordings, videos, interactive maps, interactive GPS coordinates and more than 170 photographs of the people and places of Colombia that make travelling with us a unique experience. It covers over 2500 kilometers of the country.
In volume 3, one of the best stories of adventure of the journey. A failed December 31 in Popayán were we got mugged, and the experience of sleeping in an Indigenous Reservation, in the mountains of the department of Cauca.
In Volume 4, we ventured thru a route less traveled between Aguadas and Sonsón to get to Medellin, one of the hardest routes to date for its technical difficulty. We were forced to stop in Medellin and repair a bike with suspension problems, and finally we reached the sea in the Urabá region.
“The situation has changed, and now we are in an area controlled by paramilitaries. You can feel the difference in the atmosphere.”
In Volume 5, we bordered the Atlantic Ocean to Cartagena and ended up in the mythical town of Mompós, declared Historical and Cultural Heritage Site by UNESCO. In this journey, I fell from the bike for taking pictures in motion, and we ventured even more through non-existing routes to meet coastal towns that are generally unexplored.
"It is amazing how, when getting off the common path through unexplored routes, and taking the time to greet and shake hands with different people of the country, has given us a very different perspective of our people. We’ll never get tired of saying over and over again: this is the real Colombia. This trip is worth repeating, more than a thousand times and even better if there is more time with the people and less time on the road."
The adventure continues...
For some people, travelling thru Colombia by road is supposed to be a very dangerous endeavour, and even more if you go off the main roads. Andrés Restrepo and Juan Pablo Gaviria, two experienced bikers who share a passion for the unknown, leave their jobs on the side and go aboard on the adventure of travelling Colombia by motorbike. Roaming through barely travelled roads to observe and witness what they like to call the “real” Colombia… All there is to reach beyond the main cities. This is not the typical tourist book. This book is the result of unplanned photographs of a traveller going through places with a different perspective than finding a 5 star hotel and Dining. With the characteristic eagerness of a real traveller and the uncertainty of the biker who does not know where he is going to sleep at night, but with the pleasure of documenting the beauty of the people and places that they find in their path. The unique beauty of the landscapes of this country was the perfect excuse to start this madness. We hope this book will continue to inspire all those who love the uncertain when they venture into the future. This is only the beginning of an adventure, of a lifestyle, a dream and a life purpose. This book is the result of their Photographic Diaries thru Colombia.
We invite you to travel this wonderful country with us.
