Welcome to the Adventures of Riverlea Farm in South Africa!

These adventures are bright and cheery written about real life. Along with the primary illustrations, the books are full of charming artwork and are designed to keep children engaged as they learn. The illustrations are digital adaptations from actual photographs taken of the main character, Jon-the-Vet, his farm at Riverlea and his pets. Each of the books finishes with a small activity to keep minds active and growing, along with an educational page of "Did You Know?"
Book Six is a stand alone special edition all about show poultry. Jon-the-Vet has a very large hobby breeding a wide variety of show chickens. This book introduces the reader to the process of washing, and occasionally blow-drying (!) chickens as they get ready to be judged at the Royal Show. A few of Jon-the-Vet's favorite Bantam and large breed chickens are shown. Book Six finishes with a chicken to breed name matching activity, along with a "Did You Know" page dedicated to show poultry of South Africa.

Through rhyme and humor, and occasional life lessons, children will enjoy the adventures to be found on a farm in South Africa. The series has been written by Penelope Alison, a speech language pathologist, for the language enrichment of children ages two to seven. The series can also serve as a reader for children in grades two to three looking to expand their reading skills.
